Hi, I have upgraded my 3G iPhone to new 4.2.1 ios and unlocked it with redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 6+UltraSn0w.
Now my iPhone is running very slowly and get hangs every now and then.
Majorly my dashboard keep crashing. Need help on how to improve the performance and prevent dashboard from crashing.

Large fonts wanted on my next cell phone
Okay, I'm getting older, just like all the rest of you. So an important feature for me on my next cell phone is the ability to adjust font size, so I can read the menus a little easier. So, which phones can you recommend that do this feature well? It seems like most phones allow you to adjust the dialed numbers, but not the fonts.

Blackberry support
I've spent at least 100 hours over the past month trying to revive my 8330. I followed the suggestions of RIM, as well as other users with the same problem, a battery with a red slash icon and nothing else. Nothing worked. Today I contacted RIM paid support. I agreed to pay $49 for this "incident". When I finally reached a technician (about 40 minutes) he stated that he was very much aware of this problem and he would walk me through reinstalling the operating system, which would wipe out all my contacts, which I was trying to avoid. So, if they are aware of the problem and have a solution (as bad as it is), why isn't it posted on the Blackberry support site. Blackberry has fallen so far that they now make money fixing their own software errors. What a scam! HTC, here I come. Bye,bye Blackberry.

burn cds through windows media player

Still no PDA Printing after all these years...
Theres still virtually no printing capabilities available on PDA's comparable to notebooks yet. Apparently Samsungs Omnia II has "Basic Printing," however thats defined. Ive gone through WindowsMobile Site and found little more than that. Of course theres third-party stuff that also supports 'basic-printing' but nothing more robust and definitely nothing incorporated into Windows Mobile 6.5
Surely theres a huge demand out there. (What about all the iPhone users? I'll bet they have printing support! Im so tired of being held hostage by Microsoft.)
Users dont want to have to buy a new printer or sync with a PC to print either.
Can any device-driver programmers out there explain what the major technical challenges are in this area? Surely its not CPU or Memory issues because some of these PDA's have exceeded 1Ghz.
I will track this threat through December. Thanks again.

I'd like to get something similar that's pocket-sized, with a QWERTY keyboard, and either a USB connection or that takes SD memory cards so that I can transfer what I write directly to my regular computer without having to re-type everything.
This would be something that I'd be carrying with me and using on public transportation, so I don't want a netbook or anything like that because it would be too large.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Would a smartphone be the way to go, maybe something like an LG Ally? (I saw a photo of it in a newspaper article, that's pretty much all I know of it, but from a physical standpoint that's the type of thing I have in mind.)

Sprint cell phones can't send me text messages
Sprint people who text my cell phone number either get an error message or don't get anything, but in either situation their text is never received by my phone. Sprint people can RECEIVE my txt messages, they just can't send to me. I don't have this problem with any other carriers, only people who use Sprint. Now the weird part... I got this phone number originally when I was with Sprint a dozen years ago. I've since changed carriers several times and with each different carrier, (T mobile, Cingular, AT&T, MetroPCS) the result is the same... people with a sprint phone can't seem to text message my phone number. Since I'm not a Sprint customer, they say they can't help me. Any advice aside from getting a new phone number after having the same one for 15 years?

Anyone recommend a sat-nav package for my Nokia E51, I was hoping to use the Tomtom Navigator 6 from my E50 but it seems once it registered to a device it can't be trasfered to another, I'm sure that Route 66 used to have a license that let you install it on 3 devices.
Anyhow basically I'm looking at Navicore 2007, Garmin XT, Route 66 (if its still available for S60) and Tomtom Navigator 6 (although the licensing has put me off Tomtom slightly as I've a few S60 phones).
I know the Navicore system can be used on as many handsets as you want but only one at a time, and I'm thinking Garmin's the same.

im erming and arring about this idea that got put into my head by my mother.
ive not been keen on laptops because of how out of date they can get quickly and how lagging they can get after a few years.

i want a really small one just to mess about on around my flat house thing or out and about.

I have an Eee PC 701sd which was originally bought on Linux, but upgraded to windows XP.
What I want to know is, is the hardrive upgradable? I only have a 8gb hardrive built into it and Xp takes most of it up, If I can upgrade it what is the highest capacity it can take?

Samsung TV wont connect to Laptop with VGA cable
Heres the situation:

Connects to my vista PC fine, with a vga cable,
Using the same VGA cable, but connecting to my XP laptop (sony Vaio), the laptop display wont output onto the TV, and i cant select 'PC' option on the TV- the laptop doesnt recognise the TV is plugged into it, and vice versa.
its not a problem with the laptop though as when i connect it to a Tosh TV, the laptop display outputs fine on the TV
Therefore it seems to be an incompatibility with the Samsung TV and the XP laptop
is this common? am i doing something wrong?
there is nothing wrong with any of the hardware or the cables, as they all work, just the xp laptop and the samsung tv wont!
New camera
Despite the advances mobiles have made in camera technology I would still rather have a high spec camera in my pocket for taking those special shots.
So I looking for a new camera.
I was pretty much sold on getting the new Panasonic TZ10.
These range of cameras seem to always get good reviews.
Having said that I have just seen Sony have just launched a new range of cameras.

Background (Not necessary to read this bit to help me)Disclaimer - I know b*gger all about photography.
I've had a Sony T-9 (I think it's that one) for about 4.5 years.
But noticed that low light shots were pretty rubbish.
Been wanting to get a better camera for a while - especially for taking low light indoor shots, and nightime scene shots whilst out and about.
Wasn't tempted by an SLR cos they're too big to lug around.
Liked the idea of micro 4/3 but GF-1 and EP-X models are not all that small.
Loved the the look of the new Sony NEX-5 but quite pricey with 2 lenses, a lukewarm review on DPReview and the fact it's not yet widely available put me off.
Looked at the Panny LX-3, Samsung EX-1 and Canon S90.
Got the Canon S-90 in the end cos of great reviews and relatively compact size.
Also got a case and 8GB card.
My ProblemI am flying abroad on Monday, back Thu, then off on Sat for a holiday with the missus.
There's no proper user guide with the S90.
Only PDF files on DVD - like I am really gonna sit there and peruse thru' those
I need a quick guide on how to use this camera specifically or these types of slightly superior point'n'shoots in general.
I need a portable guide which I can refer to whilst I am on travels - printable couple of pages or preferably an iPhone app
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How to lower or mute the Mac bong?
Random question, but whenever I start my new iMac it makes the usual bong but it's loud, it doesn't even come out if the system I have hooked up to it.
I can live with it, but our neighbors are anal and not too keen on us making noise.
Is there a way to mute it or even just quieten it so it isn't as loud?

Repairs
My Mrs' Jalou has gone on the blink.
It's randomly turning itself off or deleting/rearranging phone numbers in the address book.
I bought it from Additions Direct about 5 months ago and don't fancy returning it for repair.

Boyfriend upgraded last night to the Vivaz.
However, having some problems connecting to YouTube on it?! Can access the internet fine, but can't access YouTube either via the mobile internet or through the dedicated YouTube app.
When logging into the app YouTube just states ;Starting up; but never loads.
Phone is on T-Mobile.

Xperia X10 Mini software update
Much to my surprise I discovered a software update for my X10 Mini last night which I've now installed and now have a Backup & Restore app,Skype and Windows Live Messenger.
But the best thing of all appears to be considerably improved battery life,much better,previously I'd fully charge it overnight and it'd be down to 5-10% remaining by the time I got home from work at about 6.30pm (this is with moderate use of Facebook,Gmail,Twidroyd and Foursquare through the day) but now with the update I fully charged it last night, got home this evening and there must have still been, at a guess, at least 25% remaining! Anyone else who's installed this update noticed an improvement as well?

Well the beast turned up today and I have just had a chance to have a play.
When I say a beast I mean it is quite a large handset.
It is about 3 mm taler then the Desire and about 3mm wider.
It is however very thin.
The 4; AMOLED screen is truly to die for.
The phone while been well made does feel quite cheap with lots of plastic and a unprotected lens.
The sound quality of the phone sounds quite tinny and you get Samsungs typical signal reception (poor).
You can tell its a Android handset but somehow it IMO lacks the wow factor of the Desire.
On paper it has all the ingredients but some how it does not gel together.
I will have a play over the next few day but somehow I think its going to go back.

July 22 (Bloomberg) -- Nokia Oyj’s second-quarter profit plunged on competition from Apple Inc.’s iPhone.
Chief Executive Officer Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said a new device from the world’s largest mobile-phone maker will “kick-start” its comeback.
Nokia, which last month cut its forecast for margins, posted a steeper-than-expected 40 percent drop in net income to 227 million euros ($291 million), or 6 cents a share, from 380 million euros, or 10 cents, a year earlier.
Analysts had predicted profit of 285 million euros.
Sales rose 0.9 percent to 10 billion euros.
The Espoo, Finland-based company maintained its outlook for margins for 2010.
“A lot of people including us were expecting the worst and while things obviously aren’t great, this may be the eye of the storm,” said Michiel Plakman, who helps manage 7 billion euros including Nokia shares at Rotterdam-based Robeco NV.
“I’d expected them to take their full-year guidance down and they didn’t, so that leaves the third and fourth quarters as cliffhangers as well.”
Nokia’s margins have suffered from its failure to bring out a high-end handset to take on Apple’s iPhone.
The company cut forecasts twice in three months over delays in finishing the software for the N8, its new flagship handset.
Nokia shares have lost two-thirds of their value since the iPhone’s June 2007 introduction, sparking speculation Nokia may seek a new CEO to replace Kallasvuo.
Nokia rose as much as 5.9 percent, and traded 3.7 percent higher at 7.25 euros as of 3:38 p.m.

The stock has plummeted from 28.60 euros in November 2007.
By contrast, Apple’s shares have more than doubled since it unveiled the iPhone in June 2007.

“There are two triggers for the share price,” said Thomas Langer, a Duesseldorf-based analyst of WestLB.

And then there’s the big story about potential management change.”
The Nokia board led by Chairman Jorma Ollila reshuffled managers in May, shifting marketing chief Anssi Vanjoki to lead smartphones and naming a new chief technology officer, former Sun Microsystems executive Rich Green.
Investors and analysts said the changes didn’t go far enough and called for Nokia to make bigger alterations such as hiring a CEO who had worked for a competitor and could bring change fast.
CEO Kallasvuo today said speculation on management changes hurts Nokia.
It “must be brought to an end one way or another,” Kallasvuo said in an interview on CNBC, declining to further comment.
New Device
Nokia has struggled to finish the N8, its first phone using a revamped version of the Symbian software platform that has served the company for the past decade.
The company is streamlining screens and menus to work faster on touch-screen phones and integrate new features such as television channels.
“The Nokia N8, the first of our Symbian 3 devices, will have a user experience superior to that of any smartphone Nokia has created,” Kallasvuo said in today’s statement.
He said there were “further Symbian 3 smartphones that we are confident will give the platform broader appeal and reach, and kick-start Nokia’s fight back at the higher end of the market.”
Nokia’s smartphone market share remained at 41 percent and its overall market share remained at 33 percent for the second quarter in a row.
The company shipped 111.1 million units, 8 percent more than last year, and 59 million smartphones, a 44 percent increase.
Market Share
“The shares may be up on expectations of a new CEO and stabler smartphone volumes,” said Neil Mawston, a London-based analyst with Strategy Analytics.
“The only positive was the smartphone volumes were relatively high, holding share around that psychologically important 40 percent level.”
The third-quarter margin for handsets will be between 7 and 10 percent on sales of 6.7 billion euros to 7.2 billion euros, the company said.
It estimates a full-year margin of 10 percent to 11 percent.
It previously said the margin would be “at the low end or slightly below” a range of 11 to 13 percent.
The average selling price for Nokia handset declined to 143 euros for smartphones from 181 euros a year ago.
The average for all its phones fell to 61 euros from 64 euros.
Apple, Google
Apple shipped 8.4 million iPhones in the most recent quarter and reaped average revenue of $635 per unit including extras.
The Cupertino, California company this week reported a 78 percent jump in profit in the three months ended June 26 to $3.25 billion, beating analysts’ estimates, as customers flocked to the iPad tablet computer and the latest version of the iPhone.
Sales surged 61 percent.
Industry smartphone sales grew 49 percent in the first quarter, according to industry researcher Gartner Inc., with Nokia’s Symbian phones declining by more than 4 percentage points as Apple and Google Inc.’s Android operating system gained.
In the latest period, the Nokia Siemens Networks joint venture with Siemens AG reported an operating loss of 179 million euros, roughly the same as last year.
Nokia said the unit will maintain its market share in 2010, rather than outpacing the market as had been forecast previously.

Hiya all.
Can anybody advise as to what may have happened to my Nokia 5800 handset after it had been in for repair.
I received handset back yesterday and after setting up my profiles etc i then went to log onto Facebook, it was then that i noticed that my handset was allready logged on to both Facebook and Twitter under another user name, both of which are active and i could browse their pages.
I have since contacted the repair centre and they have asked me to send it back to them because there is a privacy issue to which they need to look at.
Now my question is, what is the posibility or my handset being used by someone at the repair centre or another customers details being uploaded onto my handset, and what you would reccomend i do next.?

"Unregistered SIM" appearing on new RAZR2 V8
Please can someone help me out in a hurry ? I yesterday received a brand new RAZR2 V8 luxury edition phone, ;unlocked; , which I purchased through ebay.
As it happens the phone was sent from Hongkong, yes, brand new with all the seals in tact, and made in the UK.
However, on inserting my O2 contract SIM., I get ;unregistered SIM; message.I have another 2 contract SIMs on O2 in my houshold, and they come up with the same message.Leads mev to believe that this phone is locked up to some other service provider, but the seller assures me it is unlocked.
Unfortunately I don't have access to another SIM from a different service.
Can't help feeling that I need to be doing something to the phone myself, other than throwing it against a wall, ofcourse!There is within the settings program a means to register with a service provider, which i have attempted several tiimes only to get a ;operation failed because network is busy; message.
Where do I go from here, the seller has indicated he would reimburse me, but the phone is really fab, a gold one, for my wife, and half the price they're selling for over here!!

Not sure I agree about with the survey results about iPhone and Blackberry users not wanting the Pre.

does anyone know where a person stands if they buy a new unwanted upgrade sold by someone on ebay if say for eg.
after 2 months (or however long) the phone should develop a fault.
is the only course of action to get it repaired from the manufacturer under the one year warranty and if the phone is sim-locked to a network does the network still bear any responsibility?

Going to have start using Lotus Notes.
Prob going to given a not-so-desirable lappy and was thinking of buying my own (MBA or MBP), so I have some questions..
Is it easy( and free) to install Lotus Notes client on Mac?
Does anything have to be done by IT at the server end? Or do you just download the client and put in your log-in and server credentials?
Is it as fully functional as using on PC?
Have any peeps used Lotus Notes on their mobile?iPhone 4?
Android? I knowow there's an official beta client out there somewhere

According to Tim Cook today whilst announcing another Apple record Quarter.
Her appears to poo poo the idea of an Apple Netbook.
Perhaps a 10; iPod Touch with improved graphics or something is on the cards.
10; seems a bit too big though one would think, so what are Apple doing with all of these 10; touch panels their are rumored to have ordered?

iPhone 3Gs waiting for activation problem
Hi all,
I bought an iphone 3Gs from ebay...
The phone has been said to be unlocked...
But when i put my sim card there is this message: ;waiting for activation - this may take some time;....
i tried both O2 card and 3 mobile...
So what's wrong? The seller has told me that it is definetely ulocked cause he used to have it with an O2 sim and later with a T- Mobile..
He then clearred off all the info and sent it to me...
What is wrong and what should i do?
Help! iPhone won't play songs! :-(
I think my iPhone is punishing me for considering going with another phone...
When I go into the iPod app and select a song to play, it looks like it is starting to play it but then after a fraction of a second the screen just rotates back to the song list! Sometimes it skips to the next song also for a fraction of a second but then still goes back to the song list!
Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried turning it off and on again

Which one of these can the Wildfire get from the Market? Which is best for it? Its the only way I'm gonna be able to cope with purely touch screen (cant afford the desire z).
I've tried one of these on someones desire but i cant remember which one it is, but i loved it.

Okay so this is probably wishful thinking, but I love everything about my iPhone apart from the keyboard! I hate it! I'm even jealous of my friend who has a 5800, texting is so much easier with t9 (for me, I know some people hate it!!).
Is it feasible that someone might some day create an app that lets you text with a normal phone t9-enabled numberpad..?

not sure what RIM can offer in terms of addition messaging supprt on a tablet form but their devices do have a large following globally, maybe that will be enough to guarantee some success for the tablet.
Not that RIM's following has helped much with the Storm, I think BlackBerry customers still tend to prefer/buy full QWERTY devices and that will remain so unless OS 6 has more to offer than the current touchscreen OS.

Am I the only one who finds this phone as sexy looking as it gets?!
It's small, with a 3.2; Screen (Capacitive), WiFi, BT 2.1, etc..
Made from Metal and soft Rubber on the Back (love those to hold) it just looks so d@mn good to me
I just find it very suitable to use at work or when a small phone is a must!
